Growing up in New York, Suzanne frequented the Metropolitan, the
MOMA, and reveled in the Avant Garde art scene in Greenwich
Village. After receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art and
studying for a year in Paris, she came to Colorado as a graduate
student at the University of Colorado. She has a B.A., M.P.A.
and a Diplome from L’ Ecole du Louvre. A 20 year resident of
Vail and Breckenridge, Suzanne now resides in the countryside of
Douglas County with a panoramic view of the Rockies. Since 2001
she has funded an annual art award which is given to an
outstanding art student at her alma mater in Maryland.
The style of her abstract landscapes and expressionistic pieces
may be generally described as "Lyrical Abstractionism" as seen
in the work of Sam Francis and Helen Frankenthaler. The bold
use of color in her more recent pieces is influenced by the the
Color Field Movement and particularly by her studies with
Gene
Davis, a noted member of the
Washington, D.C. Color School. All her paintings are oil
on canvas.
